Dive into the heart of KooKooning, through the eyes of each member of the team!

Why the name "KooKooning"?

From Where to sleep to KooKooning
by Saad

Our service has undergone several evolutions before arriving at this stage. Originally known as Oudormir.mobi, we wanted a name better suited to the quiet and indolent aspect emanating from our mascot (Pedro the Paresseux!), And which can follow us once our internationalization started. A warm atmosphere, cocooning ... 2 K to remind Kapt: KooKooning!

Where are you?

Where we are located
by Philippe

Contrary to what one might think, the team members do not work hanging from trees like lazy, but in offices. If you want to give us a little local visit, you will find us in Alixan in the Drôme, and more precisely in the Rovaltain park which brings together a nursery of innovative companies.

What differentiates this service?

KooKooning, a holistic approach to your holidays
by François

Originally, KooKooning was a service for travelers on the go, making it possible to find accommodation quickly around you. With the evolution of technology and digital habits, we have adapted our service to the increasingly complex demand of travelers, in order to offer them a complete and engaging solution. Hence our desire to develop the first digital tourist guide. A single service bringing together the accommodation where to sleep, activities to do and places to see nearby.

Why is Pedro the lazy?

Pedro, the benevolent mascot
by Johanna

All myth takes its source from reality: Pedro the lazy actually exists! In the form of a stuffed toy, certainly, bought years ago by Sébastien. During the creation of KooKooning (then named Where to Sleep), Pedro was enthroned in the premises as moral support to the teammates. This one has gradually become the mascot of the team, and it is naturally that it became that of our service. Welcoming and caring, the image of the well-named "lazy" perfectly sticks to the skin of our service and our guests.

How is the KooKooning team composed?

The multi-task team
by Sébastien

The KooKooning team is made up of a layer of designers embracing a core of engineers. They work on the skeleton and the algorithms to secure the service, manage reservations, availability, the search engine and many other features, while the designers take care to make all these tools accessible in the manner As ergonomic as possible. At KooKooning, no fuss: everyone takes care of everything, from community management to the promotion of service. If you contact our support, you will come across our designers as well as our engineers who will guide you and solve your problems effectively.

How was the idea born?

The genesis of KooKooning
by Adrien

The genealogy of KooKooning goes back to 2010 where the service was still called Where to sleep, quite simply. If we take into account the exponential evolution of digital over the last 10 years, 2010, it is a bit the Stone Age or the Bronze Age. At the time, there was no service on mobile that made it possible to find accommodation online, mainly because the telephones of the time were not adapted to a nomadic navigation on the Web. And then the iPhone came in, and pushed all the codes in place with its "big" touchscreen. We therefore developed one of the first mobile applications taking advantage of the arrival of smartphones. Then we put our expertise at the service of institutional clients before the resurgence of service at the end of 2015 under a new name: KooKooning! KooKooning.com was officially launched in early 2016 and we have been improving it ever since.

The KooKooning course

KooKooning was originally called OuDormir, and was made up of two engineers during its genesis in 2008. Mainly focused on the search for mobile hosting, the service has gradually evolved, version to version, to arrive at The complete tool of management of the tourist offer that it is today. Travelers can now set up a real themed stay, consisting of accommodation and activities in line with their expectations, and hosts and service providers have a back office allowing them to manage their contacts, reservations, availability And much more.
