Cabinetmaking was born in France in the middle of the 17th century, when tropical wood sawn in veneers allows subtly to dress massive furniture. This decorative revolution will generate an abundance of creations which, decorated with inlaid decorations in the colors of various woods, today constitute one of the jewels of the French cultural and artistic heritage. La Croisée Découverte proposes to introduce you to the cabinetmaking, by plating and fashioning a living room furniture in solid wood, according to the old methods. During this course you will discover: - Choice of veneers in rare species (mahogany, amaranth, lemon tree, ...) and shaping - Use of animal glues - Creation of a chessboard - Setting of decorative nets - A buffered varnish finish
